The Current Healthcare System With MAP® Health Added
Care Provisions Healthcare is provider-focused. Relationships between providers, hospitals and networks drive care and costs. The participant is the main focus. MAP® transforms an average network into an exceptional one. MAP® identifies high outcome providers and facilities, yielding better medical outcomes and lower costs for employees and participants.
Decision Model Participants receive average medical care in the community because they can see nearly every provider (if using a major carrier), but are unable to tell which offers the best quality care. Participants are offered the best medical care. MAP® credentials providers in their network for the highest quality outcomes.
Belief System The provider-focused system operates under the belief that more care is better: more tests, more days in the hospital, more medications, more medical care. MAP® intervenes earlier to prevent misuse or over/underuse in instances of UM and CM. MAP® Nurse Advocates assist participants in preparing for appointments and explain what to expect before and after procedures.
Goal Only the illness at hand is dealt with by the provider. Participants often use costly urgent care facilities or the ER as their first point of contact with healthcare professionals.  MAP® focuses on achieving the best outcomes for any medical episode. We go a step further with our outreach programs to help improve the health of participants with modifiable risk factors. We proactively identify conditions before they become serious.
Payment The traditional system works on a fee-for-service structure.  MAP® works to reduce medical costs for employers by using case rates and reference-based pricing.
